ISO: good makeup

hey ladies (or guys if you have any suggestions for that matter), i'm looking for some new makeup and am officially taking recommendations. and i could use help. looking for makeup is probably one of my least favorite things to do (although i've decided that my least favorite things, in order, include: 1-finding a job 2-breaking up 3-finding a job while breaking up). but makeup is hard b/c you never know how it's going to look, it's expensive, yada yada. thank heavens for sephora and being able to return things though.

so, i'm looking for recommendations on lipstick/gloss, foundation and eyes. and any tips on how to use the products would be helpful. my sister loves mac products so i'm leaning towards getting their stuff, but if you have something cheaper, please save me so i can have money to get christmas gifts still...

For eye make-up, I have really fallen in love with Mary Kay eye shadows. I know, I know...Mary Kay? Isn't that for women our mother's age?

But one of my roommates converted me to the MK cause. She gave me Mary Kay eye shadow for a huge discount and I've loved it ever since. They have really nice cream shadows that are subtle and very pretty.

As for foundation, I have a bottle from Sephora (Bourjois brand) and a bottle from Cover Girl. Surprisingly, the Cover Girl one works really well! But if you want something that's a little fancier, Bourgois is great too.

Hi girlie... i'm all about the drugstore makeup. (Mac eyeshadow is awesome though, but I'm cheap) For awhile now i've been using L'Oreal True Match Super Blendable foundation and concealer. I really like it because it is light but covers great and blends amazingly well. I like their HIP eyeshadows too which are similar to MAC. For blush I like Maybelline's cream blush, but I still apply it with a brush. Hope this helps!

PS... I tagged you to do one of those 7 random facts about yourself things. :-)

Hey there!

As for face make-up, I have fallen in love with Bare Minerals. It is very natural and doesn't give you the orange/foundation look. You can buy a starter kit at Sephora. I would ask one of the store salesman to help you pick out your colors and show you how to put it on. Seriously, it is amazing stuff! Good luck!!

Funny thing, I'm about to try out e.l.f. b/c they are super cheap and recommended by inconsequential people (like Oprah or something). I am severely tempted by their lip stuff though! Tons of stuff for a dollar! I'll let you know how it works out.

also, my friend is really into this and just sent me her recommendations a few weeks ago...

www.everydayminerals.com (free sample kits, you just pay shipping)
www.meowcosmetics.com (nice foundation, lots of shades to choose from)
and for crazy eyeshadow parties!
www.pureluxecosmetics.com
www.fyrinnae.com
oh, and a site that is everyone's favorite for cheap makeup brushes:
www.coastalscents.com

I'm guessing you might feel overwhelmed by the plethora of info. if you absolutely hate makeup shopping...sorry for the added stress/help!

About makeup....I really love love love Sheer Cover and Bare Minerals makeup for foundation. They are so natural looking, it doesn't cake on, and they both last all day. I use Sheer Cover because its a little less expensive and it gets shipped directly to my door! It is really fast to put on too...you just dab some on your brush and brush it on your face in a circular motion. Hope that helps!
